Welcome to Live Weather App (“we”, “our”, or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency regarding how data is handled when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

A. Location Information (GPS & Approximate Location)

  • Purpose: To provide real-time weather conditions, hourly forecasts, 7-day extended forecasts, UV index, and Air Quality Index (AQI) for your immediate area.
  • How it is processed: If you grant the app location permissions (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION or ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION), your device’s geographical coordinates (latitude and longitude) are sent securely over HTTPS to weather data providers (Open-Meteo) strictly to query localized weather data.
  • Storage: We do not store, track, log, or share your historical GPS locations on any external servers. Location queries are processed on-demand in real-time.

B. User Preferences & Local Storage

  • Purpose: To persist your customized app settings and offline availability.
  • Data stored locally:
    • Units of measurement (Celsius/Fahrenheit, km/h/mph).
    • Selected theme (System Auto / Light / Dark).
    • GPS auto-location preference toggle.
    • List of saved favorite cities/locations.
    • Temporary cached weather data for offline viewing.
  • Storage: All preference and cache data is saved locally on your device using AsyncStorage. No data is synced to external databases or third-party servers.

C. Personal Identifiable Information (PII)

  • Live Weather App does not require account creation, registration, email, name, or phone numbers. We do not collect or request any personal identification.

2. Third-Party Services and APIs

Our app communicates with trusted third-party APIs to deliver meteorological data:

  • Open-Meteo API: Used to fetch meteorological forecasts, current weather data, atmospheric metrics, and air quality information.
    Open-Meteo operates in compliance with strict privacy standards and does not track personal user profiles.
  • Open-Meteo Geocoding API: Used when you search for city names to retrieve geographical coordinates.

3. Device Permissions

The app may request the following permissions on your device:

4. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Locally Cached Data: You can clear all cached forecast data at any time inside the app by going to Settings > Clear Weather Cache.
  • Saved Cities: You can add or remove saved locations at any time from the Favorites screen.
  • App Uninstall: Uninstalling the app permanently removes all local configuration and cached files from your device.

5. Children’s Privacy (COPPA & GDPR Compliance)

Our service is not targeted to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take immediate action.

6. Security

We prioritize safeguarding your data. Since all personal settings and cache data remain on your local device and network communications use encrypted HTTPS protocols, your exposure to security risks is minimal.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any modifications will be reflected in this document with an updated “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
